Cowabunga Dude!

This is my new favorite cake. I was so excited about the theme when I received this order, and knew immediately what I would do. The bottom tier is vanilla cake, and the top is chocolate. The cake is covered in homemade marshmallow fondant, and the accents and characters are also fondant. The birthday boy loved it! Happy birthday Brody!

Lego Mania!

I have had several Lego themed orders lately. I don't know why they all hit at once, and why I had never done them before, but I loved how everything turned out! The cookies and cupcakes were for a kid's party, and the cake was actually a groom's cake for a wedding. Loved the contrast of the fun Lego cake with the elegant bride's cake. (Pictures of that cake coming soon).

Birch Bark Anniversary Cake

Though this cake looks just like a fondant one, it is made entirely from buttercream. The slits in the birch bark are hand painted with buttercream, and the top of the cake is airbrushed. The flowers and mushrooms are made from modeling chocolate. What a cute idea for an anniversary cake. I hope the client enjoys it!

It's Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs!

This cake was made for a "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" movie themed party. The cake is one tier chocolate, one tier vanilla, and the meatball on top is also vanilla cake. All of the accents are made from homemade marshmallow fondant, with a little bit of buttercream thrown in for the clouds and hamburger condiments and lettuce. I hope everyone enjoyed this cake, because it was a fun one to make! Happy birthday Connor!

Percy Jackson Cake

This cake was inspired by a picture sent to me by my client. I knew when I saw the picture that I could make the cake even better. The top is made to look like the shield Percy carried in the movie, "The Lightning Thief", and is completely edible, made from cake, fondant, and royal icing, airbrushed with gold edible paint. The cake is a 10 inch chocolate cake with buttercream icing. The elements on the board are also made from fondant. The client was thrilled with the cake, and I was very happy with how it turned out.

The Rhinoceros Cake

The request for this theme is not one that you get very often, but I had so much fun making this cake! I love the little rhino on top. I really wanted to keep him and put him on my desk. He makes me smile. This cake was for a first birthday for a little boy with the nickname of "Rhino", and it's a 6 inch and 5 inch super mini tiered cake. I loved making this cake.

A Sock Monkey First Birthday Party

This was one of my orders for this weekend...a plethora or sock monkey themed goodies. The tiered cake is chocolate with chocolate ganache, chocolate buttercream, and homemade marshmallow fondant. The smash cake is chocolate with buttercream, and the cupcakes are vanilla bean with sugar cookie toppers. Happy birthday Hudson!

Beach Ball Themed 1st Birthday and Smash Cake

These cakes were inspired by the invitation design for this beach ball themed first birthday party. Cake is vanilla, iced in buttercream, with fondant accents. The smash cake is all buttercream. The client loved it, and so did I! I was kind of sad to deliver it because it was so cute!

Andrew's Texas Rangers Cake

My son Andrew's birthday is in December, but we usually wait to have his party in the summertime, since we are usually traveling for Christmas on his actual birthday. This year, he requested a baseball party. At first, he wanted a Texas Tech cake, but then after seeing all the cute Texas Rangers party stuff at the party store, he changed his mind. He was responsible for the design of this cake...I just had to execute it. :) I was really happy with how the cake turned out. It was definitely a hit with all the party attendees (no pun intended). The cake itself is covered in buttercream, and the hat and ball are covered in fondant. The hat is cake also (excluding the brim, which is also fondant). The cake is vanilla flavor.

Brother and Sister Joint Birthday Party Cakes

These cakes are for a brother and sister's joint birthday party. I was pretty worried about the lego cake, though I don't really know why. Maybe it was the character on top...I couldn't quite figure out how to make it. As you can see, I got it figured out. :) I was really happy with how these two cakes turned out. I hope they like them! Happy birthday Alexa and Julian!

Wedding Cake

This cake was for a small wedding. The bride carried hydrangeas in her bouquet, and wanted that theme carried over into her wedding cake. Her gown also had pleating, so I tried to incorporate that effect into the cake as well. The cake was chocolate with raspberry buttercream filling.

Mermaid Cake

This cake was done for an Icing Smiles recipient. I had so much fun making it, and I was so excited to deliver it. The family that received it was so sweet and appreciative. The birthday girl is a beautiful little angel. I hope this cake helps to make her day super special!

Who You Gonna Call?

Happy Birthday Andrew!

Cake Pops

I have had several requests lately for cake pops in University of Texas colors. Some were for a college graduation, and some for a birthday party with a football theme. The mom of the birthday boy wanted pom pom cake pops for the girls attending the party...I would have never thought of doing this, but they turned out to be super cute!

The Cheeto Cake

This cake was made for a youth pastor's 30th birthday. He has a puppet named "Cheeto" that he uses in his ministry, and he has had the puppet since he was a child. Cheeto had to be incorporated into the cake somehow, and this is what I came up with. Definitely a very special 30th birthday cake, and he loved it!

Spring Flowers Cake

This cake is for a birthday where the theme is Spring flowers, though it would make a beautiful wedding cake as well. The flowers are hand-painted, and the entire cake is buttercream. This is my favorite cake to date. I hope the birthday girl loves it!

Welcome Baby Ellis!

A client of mine was expecting a baby, and wanted cookies to take to the hospital to share with her family, friends, and doctors and nurses. I thought it was such a neat idea to do that! Congratulations to the Ashwood family in welcoming baby Ellis into the world!

It was my turn to bring snacks for my son's baseball team, so of course I had to make them some personalized baseball cookies!

It's a Boy!

I was asked by some very good friends of mine to make a cake and cookies for their gender reveal party. They are big Texas Tech fans, (as am I) and they asked that I make the treats in a Texas Tech theme...football helmets for a boy, and megaphones for a girl. If the baby was a boy, they wanted chocolate filling in their cake, and if it was a girl, strawberry filling. It was very exciting to be the first one to know the gender of their baby, but it was so hard to keep the secret! They were thrilled to find out that their baby will be a boy...baby Owen. Congratulations Maggie and Ryan! I am so thrilled for you guys!
